Goalkeeper Coach

Armando has been involved in soccer as a player and as a coach for 30+ years, including 5 years with a Professional Soccer Team in Mexico, FC Leon. Armando holds the Canada Soccer National B License and the Canada Soccer National Youth-Goalkeeping License, in addition to the Alberta Soccer C License.

Internationally Armando holds the NSCAA/USC Advanced National Goalkeeping License. He has been a Coach and Trainer for 5 years with the Canada Soccer Alberta North REX Women’s Soccer Program now run in Edmonton by the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, which is part of the Canada Soccer Women’s EXCEL National Program, and 4 years with the University of Alberta Jr. Pandas Women’s Soccer Program.

Recently, Armando joined the MacEwan University Men’s Soccer Program as the Player’s Performance Data Analyst using the advanced technology STATSports Apex PRO. Currently, Armando is the Goalkeeper Coach & Trainer for the Vancouver Whitecaps FC for the programs in Edmonton: the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Boys MLS Academy and the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Girls REX program.

Armando has been part of SW Sting FC since 2009, coaching Girls & Boys teams, participating many times as Head Coach at Provincials and at tournaments. In addition, Armando has been training SW Sting’s youth goalkeepers, including Joseph Holliday who is the youngest goalkeeper ever recruited by the FC Edmonton Professional CPL soccer team, and Sabrina Alexander, the youngest goalkeeper ever recruited by the Canada Soccer REX Women’s Soccer program in Alberta. Armando is on track to take the Canada Soccer National A License course in 2023.
