Coaching at Sting FC
Coaching at Sting FC is your opportunity to be a part of one of Edmonton's premier soccer (football) clubs. This experience will provide the ultimate self-reward for all football enthusiasts. Through your skills, knowledge, and experiences, you can develop the next generation of elite football players in Canada.

Become a Coach
Applicants must:
- Provide a soccer resume noting coach and/or playing experience including any pertinent certifications and provide references upon request to the Technical Director
- Be willing to promote and uphold the core values of Sting FC and demonstrate your commitment by acknowledging EMSA Team Acknowledgement Form and Post Season Play & Premiere Club Commitment Form
- Be motivated to develop as a coach including NCCP, ASA, and CSA coach training. The club commit to supporting you as a coach
- Sign the coaching code of conduct - required for all coaches and staff at Sting FC.
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of one (1) coach per team participating in the EMSA programs regardless of age, group, tier, or gender, must obtain ANY coach qualification as follows;
- Certification by ASA (ASA/NCCP Courses)
- Certification Courses by ASA
ASA Mandates
ASA mandates that (1) team official from each team qualifying in the Indoor or Outdoor Provincial Championships must fulfill the minimum coaching requirements for the appropriate level below:
- Competition Coaching Requirement U13-U18 Tier I:
- Full Coach Certificate (license C, B, or A) OR
- Soccer for Life + Making Ethical Decisions (MED) online
- U13-U19 Tiers II-IV: NCCP Community Sport Coach Senior OR Soccer for Life.
- U9/U11 Tiers I-IV: NCCP Community Coach Youth OR
- U7 self-fundamentals
- Learn to Train OR Soccer for Life
- Competitions, Alberta Soccer and Sting FC mandates all coaches take the online MED module.

What to expect
Coaching a team
As a coach, you will have the opportunity to educate and lead a team of young, mature, and enthusiastic players in the Edmonton Minor Soccer Association (EMSA).
Tournaments
The opportunity to challenge teams across the province for silverware; U15 and U17 age groups can compete nationally.
Player development
Pass on your skills and expertise to players who are eager to train, learn, and win.
U9-11 Commitment
Coaches are required to plan and build training sessions appropriate to the age group and players' skillset. One practice and one game per week is the minimum for all Sting FC coaches.
U13-15 Commitment
Coaches are required to customize training plans to the player and team's skillset, developing the mentality to compete. Two practices and one game per week is the minimum for all Sting FC coaches.
U15-19 Commitment
Coaches are expected to build teams to compete and win at the city, provincial, and national levels. Multiple practices and multiple games per week. This is a full commitment to the team and club.
