Sting FC Programming and Tryout FAQ

How do I register my child for the upcoming season?

If you are new to Sting please register for our Open Tryout sessions, registration is posted on the website.  Once rosters are finalized players placed on a team will receive an email to register, pay fees through Teamsnap.

How much does registration cost for each age group?

This year fees will be approximately $850 for U11 and under and approximately $1050 per player for older age categories. The exact dollar amounts will be finalised by March 1st, 2025.

What age groups are eligible for registration?

We operate girls and boys programming from U8 to U18

When and where are tryouts held?

Tryouts are held at SPORTS TC - Turf Indoor Training Facility - 9203 35 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 5Y1. See the table above for your age groups specific tryout dates and times.

What is the process for joining if my child is transferring from another club?

Please register and attend the open tryout.

What is included in the registration fee?

Teams typically play 1–2 games per week, with 2 practices and 1 club training session, meaning players are on the field 3–4 times weekly.

What are the expectations of the Sting Program of players and families in the program?

For younger age groups, we encourage equal playing time. However, at any age level, poor attendance at training and practices may result in reduced game time. Joining the club is a commitment, and regular participation in training and practice sessions is expected. If your family cannot ensure your player can make practice. We suggest another program.

What equipment does my child need to participate?

Cleats and shin pads are strongly suggested. Player cleats should be made of plastic and clean for use on the indoor turf. Metal spikes are not permitted.

Are there financial aid or payment plan options available?

Yes, Edmonton Sting works with KidSport and Jumpstart programs to offset registration fees. If you have any further questions please contact admin@edmontonsting.com

Can my child join the club mid-season?

No, after team formation it is highly unlikely a player can join a team mid-season.

What happens if my child decides to withdraw after registering on a Sting roster?

Issuing refunds after registration is rare and should not be expected. In the cases of documented injury, moving or other special circumstances we have worked with families to issue partial refunds on a case-by-case basis.

Does participating in a tryout guarantee a spot in the program?

Unfortunately, no, there may not be space for all children in the program. We are a competitive program with a focus on development. That said, we have teams from tier 1 to tier 3 and accept children of many skill levels - from members of other clubs at the tier 1 level and particularly at the younger age categories players just starting their soccer journey. We work closely with SWESMA to place players not accepted in the Sting Club program on community teams/programs..
