We are excited to announce our upcoming Sting Wellness Days, specifically designed for our young athletes! These engaging sessions will support your child’s growth as a balanced and holistic athlete, promoting not just physical skills but also mental and emotional well-being.

  • Sessions: 3 Sessions in Total
  • Location: Yellowbird Community Hall
  • Price: $60 per Household for all 3 sessions (includes player and parents)

  • November 15th, 2024 (Friday, 6 PM - 9 PM)

Speakers

Janelle Schultz (Exercise Physiology)

Qualifications: Registered Provisional Psychologist, MACP

Background: An accomplished trail and ultra-runner, Janelle is also a dedicated mother of three teens involved in youth sports. Her firsthand experience with athletics allows her to connect deeply with young athletes.

Approach: Janelle emphasizes the interconnectedness of body, mind, and emotions, fostering resilience, teamwork, and goal-setting abilities. Her passion is to support athletes in becoming well-rounded individuals who can navigate both competition and personal growth.

Katie Henderson (Nutrition)

Qualifications:Registered Dietitian

Background: A National-level gymnast and Team Canada Triathlete, Katie is committed to educating athletes on proper nutrition for optimal performance.

Approach: Katie translates complex nutritional information into practical advice, providing tailored guidance on nutrition strategies to support athletic goals and overall health.

Dr. Constance (Connie) Lebrun (Sports Medicine)

Qualifications: Professor, Department of Family Medicine, University of Alberta; Sports Medicine Fellowship

Background: With extensive experience in sports medicine, Dr. Lebrun focuses on the health and well-being of physically active individuals, particularly in concussion management. Special Interests:

Approach: She will educate athletes and parents about injury prevention strategies and the importance of proper care, ensuring a safe return to play.

Dr. Terry De Freitas (Sports Medicine)

Qualifications: Associate Professor, Department of Family Medicine, University of Alberta

Background: Qualified in Sport and Exercise Medicine since 2002. Focus:

Approach: Dr. Freitas specializes in point-of-care ultrasound techniques for musculoskeletal conditions and concussion management, promoting a team-based approach to care.
